We are looking for a dynamic and motivating Economics teacher who is interested and experienced in teaching in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma programmes.

About the job

We are looking for someone who can teach Economics within the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, MYP4 (grade 9), MYP5 (grade 10) and the Diploma Programme. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme inspires students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learner and motivates them to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

The position is initially a temporary appointment with the potential to become permanent, with a teaching contract of approximately 0,56 fte. More hours are available in our sister school if you are also able to teach in Dutch.

Experience as a mentor (form tutor) or in other leadership or developmental roles within an IB world school would be advantageous but not required.

The International School Groningen

The International School Groningen is an IB World School and provides a comprehensive educational programme, in small groups, to approximately 180 students aged between 11 and 18. The school offers high-quality education, meeting high expectations, through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme. The International School is a section of and shares the campus with a larger Dutch Secondary School, the Maartenscollege. The Maartenscollege is also an IB world school, offering the MYP at all academic levels.

About you

The successful candidate:

• is a highly dynamic and motivating teacher who can differentiate in a mixed-ability setting;
• is an experienced and qualified* teacher who can help further develop the International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP at the school;
• has an awareness of the needs of an intercultural environment;
• is interested in taking an active role within the school;
• has an excellent level of spoken and written English and Dutch language. (CEFR – C1).

What we offer

We offer a position of 0,56 fte. This is a fixed-term position, from 1 august 2024 for 12 months. You will receive an appropriate salary according to the CAO VO; Salary: scale LB (€3301 – €5030 (max) gross/bruto per month) or LC (€3321 – €5862 (max) gross/bruto per month)* (*depending on experience).
